Syntactica Awarded Contract from Minnesota Historical Society

Minneapolis, MN October 30, 2009 It was announced today that the Minnesota Historical Society has awarded a contract to Syntactica Inc., for the development of a software architecture for the search and retrieval of historical documents. This contract supports the work of the Model Technological and Social Architecture for the Preservation of State Government Digital Information Project, an activity being led by the MHS that is supported by the U.S. Library of Congress' National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP).

"Syntactica has the experience to help develop this architecture," said Robert Horton, the director of the Library, Publications and Collections Division of the Minnesota Historical Society.

The first phase of the contract will involve the analysis of business requirements and document how users will interact with the System. These requirements will then be distilled into an architecture analysis process that will guide the software architecture selection. After an architecture has been chosen, a series of applications will be created to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of this system.

We have extensive experience with commercial XML products as well as OpenSource XML systems." said Dan McCreary, a software architect with Syntactica.

XML Search and retrieval technologies are beginning to gain widespread popularity in document search and retrieval systems. They combine the benefits of both traditional relational databases but also allow fine-grained search tools that can be quickly customized for a group or user.
