Rich Jones
Software Engineer
Rich built a liquid-fueled rocket engine for the 8th grade science fair that blackened the auditorium ceiling before a stunned judging panel. He began college in pursuit of an Electrical Engineering degree, but soon got bored and left. While working as a field service technician for CPT Corporation, he cracked their program’s copy protection and sent a letter, along with the duplicated disk, to CPT headquarters requesting a job as a programmer.
Rich worked for CPT for the next 12 years. There he helped develop a multi-CPU operating system, an early image scanner, a multi-user document server, and a proprietary CAD system for hardware simulation. He ported DOS, Windows, AutoCAD, MP/M and Gem GUI systems to CPT’s native hardware. Does anyone remember MP/M or Gem?
After CPT, Rich formed Metasoft, Inc. and became an independent consultant. Metasoft has provided services to: XCAT, Moniterm, Image-In, IBM, Sharp, Sungard/Corbel, Schwab, and many others. He is currently responsible for maintaining, upgrading and enhancing the Syntactica core technology for ZH Computer.
Recently nicknamed, "The Grinch", undoubtedly because he spends long hours alone in a cave (his office) bathed-in the phosphorescent glow of computer monitors. He however would never think of stealing children’s presents.
